{"id":199,"date":"2008-03-22T22:18:00","date_gmt":"2008-03-22T22:18:00","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.infomercantile.com\/new-blog\/?p=199"},"modified":"2014-03-11T15:11:15","modified_gmt":"2014-03-11T20:11:15","slug":"salvador-dali-bloopers","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/www.infomercantile.com\/blog\/2008\/03\/salvador-dali-bloopers.html","title":{"rendered":"Salvador Dali Bloopers"},"content":{"rendered":"<div style=\"text-align: center;\"><span style=\"font-size:78%;\"><span style=\"font-style: italic;\">*warning &#8211; artistic nudity in links* <\/span><\/span><\/div>\n<p>In the 1940s, Salvador Dali and <a href=\"http:\/\/www.npg.si.edu\/exh\/halsman\/intro.htm\">Philippe Halsman<\/a> teamed up and produced a number of surrealistic works of photographic art &#8212; some are iconic, like <a style=\"font-style: italic;\" href=\"http:\/\/www.afterimagegallery.com\/halsmanskull.htm\">In Voluptas Mors<\/a> and <a style=\"font-style: italic;\" href=\"http:\/\/www.afterimagegallery.com\/dlhalsman.htm\">Dali Atomicus<\/a>, but the pair produced many different photos during their collaboration. Others, like <a href=\"http:\/\/www.infomercantile.com\/-\/Image:Untitled-dali-halsman-collaboration.jpg\">this one (I was unable to find its title)<\/a> and <a href=\"http:\/\/www.infomercantile.com\/-\/Image:Dali-midsummers-night-mare.jpg\"><span style=\"font-style: italic;\">Midsummer Night&#8217;s Mare<\/span><\/a>, made it to film but did not achieve the acclaim that <span style=\"font-style: italic;\">Mors<\/span> and A<span style=\"font-style: italic;\">tomicus<\/span> did.  It&#8217;s easy to forget, when seeing the final results of such a mixing of the minds, that great art isn&#8217;t a coincidence or a singular act &#8212; producing art requires practice, numerous mistakes, and attention to detail that makes the final product look effortless.   The Fall 1950 issue of <span style=\"font-style: italic;\">Photography Workshop<\/span> stripped away a veneer of that pseudo- effortlessness. Accidents would happen.
