Emeril?  Bah &#8212; television was his tool&#8230;Angelo was known by word-of-mouth!   This postcard is done in the style of real-photo postcards from the 1910s to 1930s, but appears to have been printed much later (and it&#8217;s not actually a photographic copy).   Angelo Xidis <a href=\"http:\/\/www.chowhound.com\/topics\/135322\">immigrated as a teen in 1915<\/a>, opening his eponymous restaurant in 1935.  This would seem to be about the right time for this photo, maybe 1940s.  Sadly, Angelo&#8217;s closed in the 1980s, well after the original Angelo retired, but the restaurant lives on in the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.familyoldphotos.com\/5c\/2a\/angelos_place_dining_room_gulfpo.htm\">numerous<\/a> postcards <a href=\"http:\/\/www.flickr.com\/photos\/38472579@N00\/325175153\">that<\/a> recommended <a href=\"http:\/\/happyhomemaker.blogspot.com\/2005\/03\/dine-at-angelos-place-owned-and_28.html\">his<\/a> restaurant <a href=\"http:\/\/happyhomemaker.blogspot.com\/2005\/03\/corner-of-huge-kitchen-at-angelos.html\">to<\/a> the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.moodyscollectibles.com\/USVIEWS\/Mississippi\/mississippi12654.htm\">friends<\/a> and <a href=\"http:\/\/www.familyoldphotos.com\/5c\/2a\/angelos_place_gulfport_mississip.htm\">relatives<\/a> of a multitude of Mississippi vacationers.<\/p>\n<div class=\"blogger-post-footer\"><img loading=\"lazy\" width=\"1\" height=\"1\" src=\"https:\/\/blogger.googleusercontent.com\/tracker\/1164514753160272371-1389328817802947933?l=www.infomercantile.com\/blog\" alt=\"\" \/><\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The postcard assumes you know who Angelo is &#8212; this fine chef was so ubiquitous that his first name was enough to tell all who he is.
