After eleven years as a senior member of the secretariat of Britain's leading scientific society -- the Royal Society of Lindon, Mr. Ronan resigned so that he could devote his whole time to science writing and to photography. The author of ''Changing Views of the Universe,'' he has also written the first biography of the comet discoverer, Edmond Halley, and has recently contributed articles to the ''Encyclopaedia Britannica''.
