A Halloween safety article from the October 15, 1960 issue of The Farmer Magazine. The text reads:

Deck Your Tiny Tots Safely for Halloween

INNOCENT witches, goblins, and little spooks who roam on "All Hallows Eve" are out to have fun, collect a few "Tricks or Treats" and return home safely.

But youngsters roaming streets and roads after dark in black costumes can set the stage for tragedy as early-evening darkness and fast-moving cars take over. To prevent such a tragedy, make sure your youngsters can be seen by evening drivers.

New reflective liquids which can be "painted" onto costumes, and new reflective tapes which will last the evening can help dress up as well as make costumes more easily visible. Headlights pick up these reflectorized costumes and give the tots a built-in safety factor.

Reflective trim and liquid produce an eerie glow in the soft light of lanterns, but blaze vividly in powerful car lights. They are invisible in complete darkness. End.
