This building was once located on the north side of 2nd Avenue North, just east of the original public library site. It no longer exists.

On December 11, 1921, the building caught fire, destroying over 50 vehicles of Reliance Motor Company and causing the Hook Building next door to be evacuated and closing the public library for at least a day. Two firefighters were injured in the blaze, overcome by smoke and fumes, but suffered only minor injuries.

According to the '54-'55 city directory, this address was occupied by Swanston Equipment Company.

1980s and beyond

In my youth, the southwest corner of this block, which contained 623 2nd Ave N, was always a parking lot.
