Buddy Campbell

Buddy Campbell (real name: Walter Gene Campbell) both January 24, 1944 in Houston, Texas. Stands 6' 0", weights 175lbs. Hair: dark brown Eyes: blue-green, no visible scars.

Raised in and around Houston, Texas, Buddy began his musical career at the ripe old age of 3 years when he was placed on a chair in church and told by his father "to sing". While growing up Buddy sang with his family who were all musical and known throughout Texas as the "Singing Campbell Family". While still in school he traveled on week-ends and toured summers into surrounding states with a group called the Commandors. The group even had their own weekly TV show and fan club.

Buddy began seeing the nation when he went into the field of professional gospel music and traveled into virtually every state with various gospel groups. They were also seen nationally on their own syndicated TV shows. He also recorded over 30 albums in a seven year period.

Buddy has at times tried other things but has always returned to music which he says "is in my blood." In 1969 he returned to Houston and immediately began working to expand his individual career by learning to play a variety of instruments, including piano, organ bass, guitar, and trumpet. While working with his own group in a new hotel he met Joni Laine who was working in the same hotel.
