The following biography was taken from the back of her album, Alias, with Buddy Campbell:

Joni Laine

Joni Laine (real name: Joan Elaine Sylte) both July 10, 19?? in Coeur d'Alene, Idaho. Stands 5'4-1/2", weighs 112 lbs. Hair: dark brown. Eyes: hazel.

Raised on the Sylte Ranch in Rathdrum, Idaho, Joni began her musical career along with her twin sisters. Known as the Sylte Sisters, they sang at all kinds of local functions: school, churches, etc. Their career rocketed upon graduating (Joni from college with a BA in Music Education), when they moved to Hollywood, California and immediately began recordings, apparing in motion pictures and TV, (Hollywood Palace, Mike Douglas Show, Roy Rogers and Dale Evans Variety Show, Garry Moore Summer Show, and others).

At the top of their career the group disbanded, naturally, because of marriage with Joni being the only one to continue with her first love, music. She worked with different groups touring nationally and around the world until she learned the ropes of the business. Then in 1969 she organized her own road show group, Joni Laine & Co. and toured from coast to coast. One engagement took her to Houston, Texas where she met Buddy Campbell. The two decided to combine their talents and the result is what you hear on this, the first of their recordings together.
